Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It is inevitable that we all know someone close to us that has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Our hope is that your special someone is still beating this horrible disease.  I, myself, have lost a couple of amazing women in my life to breast cancer. During the month of October, take the time to remember the ones that have fought the fight and continue fighting to find a cure.

Here are a few stats from this year. It is calculated that in American women, there will be approximately  226,800 new cases of invasive breast cancer, 63,300 new cases of in situ breast cancer and 39,500 deaths. In American men, there will be approximately 2,100 new cases and 400 deaths.

General risk factors:
• Being female
• Getting older
• Family history

Breast cancer rates in women under 40 is low, but the highest rates are in women over the age of 70. Approximately 95% of the women diagnosed are over the age of 40. Family history of breast cancer also increases your risk. Living a healthy lifestyle could quite possibly reduce your risk or recurrence of breast cancer. Please get screened, a simple mammography or MRI can find early stages.

Easy Fit Low Rise Pant - 701

If you're looking for more fashionable scrubs that are also functional, you've got to try the 701 pant! They are amazingly comfortable and if you try them, you'll understand the many reasons our customers (and staff) love them!

One of my favorite things about these scrub pants, other than the fact that they are completely adorable, is the price. Buying these from a different uniform company, you'd pay $29.99 for these pants. At Scrubin Uniforms, they are only $14.99! Yes, you read that correctly; $14.99 makes us jump for joy too!

The easy-fit, low-rise pant is modern. It features an adjustable flat-tie drawstring waist, two front pockets, two back pockets, and a side cargo pocket. Fashion stitching, knee pleats, and a D-ring located on the left pocket. The inseam is approximately 31 inches. And the fabric is 55% Cotton and 45% polyester, so shrinking won't be an issue!

Keep your scrub pants fresh and new with a price you can't beat! There are currently 8 colors to choose from and more will be added in the new year!

National Safety Month: Week 3

Prevent Falls

• Secure electrical cords
• Be sure to have good lighting
• Clean up spills quickly
• Keep floors and stairs clear
• Wear proper shoes

More than 8.7 million emergency room visits each year are due to slips, trips, and falls. Most times, falls are preventable. There are many risk factors, some include age-related issues, health problems, and environmental hazards.

Older adults should stay active, remove tripping hazards, review medication, and have vision checked to help prevent the risk of falling. One in three adults age 65 and older falls each year (CDC).
